How did you feel when you first found out you were pregnant?

Excited and nervous at the same time. We didn’t expect it to happen so quickly at the age we are at, so it was quite the blessing and a miracle in its own way.

How long did you keep it just for yourself? Who did you tell first?

I told my sister, who is a mother of three girls, right away. My partner told his parents. We didn’t tell friends until after the first trimester.

Did you plan to learn the gender in a special way? Tell us more about it :)

Since I’m above age 35, we did the 10 week bloodwork test and decided to find out then. We were actually on a flight to Las Vegas to meet my family. My doctor texted me while I was in the air asking if I wanted to know! Filled with suspense, I obviously said yes. It was exciting to be able to tell everyone the news when we landed. We had a family celebration that night!

What did you miss doing the most during your pregnancy?

My first three months were challenging due to morning sickness. I was sick every night and morning. The second trimester was ok but then covid happened by the third. The sickness combined with quarantine has me missing friends, dinners out with my partner, concerts and date nights.

Did you change anything in your exercise routine?

I continued to work out as much as I could but I stopped doing yoga and intense boot camp classes eventually because I didn’t want to pull or strain on my stomach. I mainly walked, did some light weights, and prenatal Pilates.

Do you have any cravings? If so, which ones? :)

My first trimester I craved carbs and salt. I’ve never been a big carb eater, more of a sweets and sugar girl. But I was so sick with morning sickness and carbs really helped (bagels, pasta, popcorn). I couldn’t stand sugar during that time and also stopped having coffee! Normally I would eat dark chocolate and have sugar every day.

What was one of the best moments in your pregnancy?

The best moment was finding out we are having a boy. I am from a family of 3 girls. My sister has 3 daughters. And my dad’s brother has all girls. It’s an Italian family of girls so we were all hoping for a little boy. We are naming him Alexander George. George is my father’s name.

What is the one thing you can not live without, during your pregnancy?

My tums and sea salt crackers. I had bad morning sickness and reflux. Pregnancy can be quite tough on a woman’s body. Everyone is different.

Anddd blueberries! I couldn’t live without blueberries! Baby loves blueberries.

What do you wish someone had told you about having a newborn?

My baby isn’t here just yet but I’ve been given tons of great advice. Like sleep and rest now. And baby sleeping and breastfeeding methods.

What’s your favorite part of becoming a mother?

I am excited to care for this little human that’s been growing inside me for the last 39 weeks with all my heart. I’m looking forward to being a loving, kind mom and raising a sweet, smart little boy.
